Riverside campsite in the Ardèche

The river right by the campsite between sand and pebbles

In Salavas, Camping Le Clapas stretches along the riverside in the Ardèche, with direct access to its private beach, reserved for campsite guests. From the lanes, a few steps are all it takes to reach the water's edge. Between sand and pebbles, the beach is as good for swimming as for resting in the shade of the trees, with canoes drifting by on the current. Some pitches are right next to the beach.

The Pont d'Arc, at the entrance to the Ardèche Gorges, is just 8 km from the campsite.

Your questions about the beach and the river

Wherever you are on the campsite, the beach is less than 100 metres away: a few steps are all it takes to reach the water's edge.

The beach is private and reserved for guests of Camping Le Clapas. Occasionally, however, a few anglers or walkers may pass along the water's edge, or canoes may stop there for a break.

Yes, your dog can come with you to the water's edge. It simply needs to be kept on a lead, as indicated at the entrance to the beach.

Unfortunately, the access to the river is not suitable for people with reduced mobility.
